Abstract:
Compositematerialshavegainedsignificantattentionintheconstructionindustryduetotheirsuperiorstrengthanddurability.Inthisstudy,theaxialcompressionperformanceofcircularcarbonfiber-reinforcedpolymer(CFRP)-steelcompositepipesfilledwithseawater,seasand,andcoralconcretecolumnswasinvestigated.Acomprehensiveexperimentalprogramwasconductedtoevaluatethemechanicalpropertiesandbehaviorofthecompositecolumnsunderdifferentloadingconditions.TheresultsdemonstratedthepotentialofusingCFRP-steelcompositepipesfilledwithseawater,seasand,andcoralconcreteasasustainableandeffectivesolutioninmarinestructures.
Introduction:
Thedeteriorationoftraditionalreinforcedconcretestructuresinaggressivemarineenvironmentsnecessitatesthedevelopmentofadvancedmaterialsandtechnologies.CarbonFiber-ReinforcedPolymer(CFRP)compositematerialshavebeenwidelyusedtoenhancethestructuralperformanceofvariouselementsduetotheirhighstrength,corrosionresistance,andlightweightproperties.ThisstudyfocusesonexploringtheuseofcircularCFRP-steelcompositepipesfilledwithseawater,seasand,andcoralconcreteasanalternativesolutionformarineapplications.
ExperimentalSetup:
TheexperimentalprograminvolvedmanufacturingcompositecolumnswithvaryingcompositionsofCFRP-steelpipesandfillingmaterials.ThecircularCFRP-steelcompositepipeswerepreparedbywrappingmultiplelayersofCFRPsheetsaroundsteelpipes,ensuringgoodadhesionbetweenthetwomaterials.Thecolumnsweresubsequentlyfilledwithamixtureofseawater,seasand,andcoralconcrete.Thetestspecimenswerethensubjectedtoaxialcompressionloadinguntilfailure.Load-displacementcurveswererecordedduringtheteststoanalyzethebehaviorofthecompositecolumns.
ResultsandDiscussion:
Theexperimentalresultsrevealedthattheaxialcompressionperformanceofthecompositecolumnswassignificantlyimprovedcomparedtotraditionalreinforcedconcretecolumns.ThecombinationofC
