Abstract
Inthispaper,theuseoftheSpectralPolynomialChaosExpansion-HighDimensionalModelRepresentation(SPCE-HDMR)methodfortherobustdesignofatransport-launchcoordinationmechanismwasinvestigated.TheSPCE-HDMRmethodwasusedtodeterminetheimportantinputparametersaffectingthemechanism'sstabilityandtoexploretheoptimaldesignspace.AsimulationmodelwasdevelopedusingtheMATLABsoftwareandwasvalidatedagainstexperimentaldata.TheresultsshowedthattheSPCE-HDMRmethodcanbeaneffectivetoolfortherobustdesignofcomplexmechanisms.
Introduction
Thetransport-launchcoordinationmechanismplaysacriticalroleinthetransportationofnuclearmissiles.Themechanismensuresthatthemissileremainsstableandsafeduringtransportandlaunch.However,themechanismissubjectedtovariousuncertaintiesanddisturbances,suchasvibrationandshockduringtransportanddifferentweatherconditionsduringlaunch.Theseuncertaintiescanimpactthestabilityandperformanceofthemechanism.Therefore,arobustdesignapproachisnecessarytoensurethatthemechanismcanwithstandthesedisturbancesandmaintainoptimalperformance.
TheSpectralPolynomialChaosExpansion-HighDimensionalModelRepresentation(SPCE-HDMR)methodisapowerfultoolforanalyzinganddesigningcomplexsystemswithmultipleinputvariables.Ithasbeenwidelyusedinengineering,physics,andotherfieldsforsensitivityanalysis,uncertaintyquantification,andoptimization.Themethoddecomposesthecomplexfunctionintoasumoflow-orderpolynomialsandusesstatisticalanalysistodeterminetheimportantinputvariables.
Inthisstudy,weusedtheSPCE-HDMRmethodtoanalyzethetransport-launchcoordinationmechanism.Theobjectivewastoidentifythesignificantinputvariablesthataffectthemechanism'sstabilityandtoexploretheoptimaldesignspace.AsimulationmodelwasdevelopedusingMATLABsoftware,andtheresultswerevalidatedagainstexperimentaldata.
Methodology
TheSPCE-HDMRmethodisadata-drivenapproachthatrequiresasetofinputvariablesandafunctiontobeanalyzed.Themethodisbasedonpolynomialchaosexpansion(PCE),whichinvolvesthedecompositionofthefunctionintoasumoforthogo
