Abstract:
Droughtstressisamajorenvironmentalfactoraffectingcropproduction,particularlyinwater-sensitivecropssuchasmaize.Theaccurateidentificationanddynamicquantitativeevaluationofdrought-inducedstressinmaizeiscrucialforimplementingtimelymitigationmeasures.Inthisstudy,weproposeanovelapproachbasedonanimprovedCropWaterStressIndex(CWSI)toeffectivelyrecognizeandquantifythedrought-inducedstressinmaizethroughoutitsgrowthcycle.
Introduction:
Droughtstresssignificantlyhamperscropgrowthanddevelopment,leadingtoyieldlossesanddecreasedquality.Maize,asoneofthemostimportantfoodandfeedcrops,isvulnerabletodroughtstressduetoitshighdemandforwaterduringitsgrowthstages.Therefore,itiscrucialtoestablishanaccurateandefficientapproachtoidentifydroughtstressinmaizeandevaluateitsseveritydynamicallythroughoutthecropcycle.
Methods:
1.DataCollection:Thisstudycollectedmeteorologicaldata,soilmoisturecontent,andcanopytemperaturemeasurementsatregularintervalsduringthemaizegrowingseason.
2.CropWaterStressIndex(CWSI)Calculation:WeimprovedthetraditionalCWSIbyincorporatingtheactualcropcoefficientandutilizingadynamicreferenceevapotranspirationequation.
3.DroughtStressIdentification:AnoptimizedthresholdvalueofCWSIwasdeterminedtodifferentiatebetweennon-stressedandstressedmaizecrops.
4.DynamicQuantitativeEvaluation:TheseverityofdroughtstressinmaizewasquantitativelyevaluatedusingtheCWSI,allowingforacomprehensiveunderstandingofthetemporalvariationinstresslevels.
ResultsandDiscussion:
1.DroughtStressIdentification:TheimprovedCWSIsuccessfullydiscriminatedbetweennon-stressedandstressedmaizecrops,providinganaccurateandreliablebasisfordroughtstressidentification.
2.DynamicQuantitativeEvaluation:ThedynamicevaluationofdroughtstressusingtheCWSIallowedfortheidentificationofcriticalperiodsofincreasedstresssusceptibilityinmaize.Thisinformationisessentialfordevisingappropria
