Introduction
TheInfinionXMC4700Multi-FunctionalPowerDevelopmentKitisanadvancedtoolfordevelopingandtestingpowerelectronics.Itfeaturesarangeoffeaturesincludingareal-timeclock,afour-channelADC,andapowermanagementunit.Oneofthemostimportantapplicationsofthiskitistheimplementationofspacevectorpulsewidthmodulation(SVPWM)formotorcontrol.ThispaperwilldiscusstheprogrammingforSVPWMimplementationusingtheXMC4700developmentkit.
SVPWM
SVPWMisatypeofpulsewidthmodulationusedinmotorcontrolapplications.Itisatechniqueforgeneratingathree-phasesinusoidalwaveformfordrivingamotor.Thewaveformiscreatedbymodulatingtheamplitudesandtimingofthethree-phasevoltagesignals.Thetechniqueisveryeffectiveinreducingharmonicdistortionandincreasingmotorefficiency.
SVPWMProgramming
ToimplementSVPWM,weneedtogeneratethree-phasepulsesignalswithafixedfrequencyandavariabledutycycle.Thedutycycleisusedtocontroltheamplitudeofthesinusoidalwaveform,andthefrequencydeterminesthespeedofthemotor.WecanachievethisbyusingtheXMC4700developmentkit'sPWMmodule.
Firstly,weneedtosetupthePWMmoduleusingtheXMC_Peripheral_Library.Weinitializethemodulebysettingtheclocksource,timerperiod,andpolarity.WethensetupthreePWMoutputsforeachphaseofthemotor.Wecandothisbyspecifyingthedesiredfrequencyanddutycycle.
WecanthenimplementSVPWMbygeneratingareferencevectorandmappingitontothePWMwaveform.Thereferencevectorisaunitvectorinthetwo-dimensionalspaceofthemotor'sthree-phasevoltagesignals.Thereferencevectorisgeneratedbycalculatingtheangleoftheintendedsinusoidalwaveform.Oncethereferencevectorisobtained,itismappedontothePWMwaveformbygeneratingthreepulsesignalswithvaryingdutycycles.
Togeneratethepulsesignals,weusealookuptablethatcontainsthepulsewidthsforeachsectorofthereferencevector.WecalculatewhichsectorthereferencevectorfallsintoandusethecorrespondingpulsewidthvaluetogeneratethePWMoutputs.
