Introduction:
CompoundSanguisorbaOfficinalisandHirudoCombinationCapsules(CSOHCC)areawidelyusedtraditionalChinesemedicineformulation.ItispreparedbycombiningtheextractsofSanguisorbaofficinalisandHirudomedicinalis(leech),andiscommonlyusedforthetreatmentofvariousgynecologicaldisorders,suchaspelvicinflammation,dysmenorrhea,andirregularmenstruation.Despiteitswidespreaduse,thereisalackofcomprehensivequalitystandardsforCSOHCC.Thisstudyaimstoprovideanin-depthanalysisofthequalitycontrolparametersandqualitystandardsforCSOHCC.
Methods:
ToestablishthequalitystandardsforCSOHCC,variousparameterswereevaluated,includingphysicochemicalproperties,chemicalanalysis,microbialcontamination,heavymetalcontent,andstabilitystudies.
Results:
1.PhysicochemicalProperties:
Thecolor,odor,taste,andtextureofCSOHCCwereevaluatedtoensureitsconsistencyandoverallacceptability.Thecolorofthecapsuleshouldbebrownishorreddish-brown,anditshouldhaveacharacteristicodorandtaste.
2.ChemicalAnalysis:
High-performanceliquidchromatography(HPLC)wasperformedtoanalyzethemainactivecompoundspresentinCSOHCC,includingtannins,flavonoids,andhirudin.Theconcentrationofthesecompoundsshouldbewithinspecificrangestoensuretheefficacyandsafetyoftheformulation.
3.MicrobialContamination:
Microbiologicaltestingwasconductedtodeterminetheabsenceofmicrobialcontamination,suchasbacteria,yeast,andmold.Thetotalbacterialcount,aswellasthepresenceofspecificpathogens,shouldbewithinacceptablelimitstoensurethesafetyofCSOHCC.
4.HeavyMetalContent:
