1.Introduction
Sulfurcompounds,suchashydrogensulfide(H2S)andmercaptans,arecommonlyfoundinliquefiedgasandposesignificantchallengestobothstorageandutilization.Thesecompoundsnotonlyimpartanunpleasantodorbutalsohaveadverseeffectsonhumanhealthandtheenvironment.Therefore,thedevelopmentofefficientandcost-effectivemethodstoremovesulfurcompoundsfromliquefiedgasisofgreatimportance.Inthisstudy,weproposetheuseofwasteresincatalystsforthepreparationofactivatedcarbonandthesubsequentevaluationofitsadsorptionperformancefortheremovalofsulfurcompoundsfromliquefiedgas.
2.Methodology
2.1PreparationofActivatedCarbon
Thewasteresincatalystswerecollectedfromindustrialprocessesandcleanedthoroughly.Theresincatalystswerethenheatedatahightemperaturetocarbonizetheresinandconvertitintoactivatedcarbon.Thecarbonizationprocesswasconductedundercontrolledconditionstoensurethedesiredpropertiesoftheactivatedcarbon.
2.2CharacterizationofActivatedCarbon
Thepreparedactivatedcarbonwascharacterizedusingvarioustechniques,includingscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)analysisforsurfaceareadetermination,andX-raydiffraction(XRD)forcrystallographiccharacterization.Thesecharacterizationsprovidedinsightsintotheporosity,surfacearea,andsurfacechemistryoftheactivatedcarbon.
2.3AdsorptionofSulfurCompounds
Theactivatedcarbonwasthentestedforitsadsorptionperformancetowardssulfurcompoundscommonlyfoundinliquefiedgas,suchasH2Sandmercaptans.Theadsorptionexperimentswereconductedusingasimulatedliquefiedgassystem,andtheeffectsofvariousparameters,includingcontacttime,adsorbentdosage,andinitialconcentrationofsulfurcompounds,wereevaluated.Theadsorptioncapacityandefficiencyoftheactivatedcarbonwerequantified.
