Title:TaxonomicStudyoftheGenusMicrocerberusandMicroquinurus(Coleoptera:Cerambycidae:Cerambycinae)
Abstract:
Thepresentpaperaimstoconductacomprehensivetaxonomicstudyoftwocloselyrelatedgenera,MicrocerberusandMicroquinurus,belongingtothesubfamilyCerambycinaewithinthefamilyCerambycidae.Thestudyfocusesontheclassification,identification,andmorphologicalcharacteristicsofthetwogenera,withanemphasisonthespeciesbelongingtothesubfamilyLepturinae.
Introduction:
ThesubfamilyCerambycinaeisataxonomicallydiversegroupofbeetlescommonlyknownaslonghornedbeetles.Amongthesubfamily,thegeneraMicrocerberusandMicroquinurusareknownfortheirsimilarmorphologyanddistributionpatterns.However,therearestillmanyuncertaintiesandconflictsregardingtheirclassificationandidentification.Therefore,thisstudyaimstoprovideathoroughtaxonomicrevisionofthesetwogenerabyevaluatingmorphologicalfeaturesandusingmoleculardata.
Methods:
Thetaxonomicstudyinvolvedtheexaminationofspecimenscollectedfromvariousgeographicalregions,includingAsia,NorthAmerica,andEurope.Morphologicalanalysiswasperformedusinganopticalmicroscopeandstereomicroscope.Detailedmeasurementsofbodypartsandstructures,suchasantennae,legs,wings,andpronotum,wererecordedtoidentifydiagnosticfeatures.Additionally,geneticanalysisusingmitochondrialDNAwasconductedtoprovidesupplementaryevidenceforspeciesdelimitationandphylogeneticrelationships.
Results:
Basedonthemorphologicalexaminationandgeneticanalysis,thefollowingkeyfindingswereobserved:
1.Morphologicalcharacteristics:Thetwogenera,MicrocerberusandMicroquinurus,sharenumeroussimilaritiesintheirbodyshape,coloration,andsize.However,severaldistinctmorphologicalfeatureswereidentifiedthathelpindistinguishingbetweenthetwogenera.
2.Speciesdiversity:ThetaxonomicrevisionrevealedahigherspeciesdiversitywithinthegenusMicroquinuruscomparedtoMicrocerberus.Thisfindingsuggestsaneedforfurtherinvestigationintotheeco-evolutionaryprocessesdrivingdiversificationwithinthesegenera.
