Abstract:
Erodiblerockdeformationandfailureinwater-hydropowerprojects,suchasdamsandreservoirs,posesignificantthreatstothestabilityandsafetyofthesestructures.Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethebehaviorandmechanicalpropertiesoferodiblerockundertriaxialunloadingconditions.Theexperimentwasconductedonrocksamplesobtainedfromahydropowerstation,simulatingthegeostressconditionstypicallyencounteredinsuchenvironments.Thetriaxialunloadingtestwasperformed,andvariouskeyparameters,includingstress-strainrelationships,failurecharacteristics,andtheinfluenceofconfiningpressure,wereanalyzed.Theresultsprovidevaluableinsightsintothestabilityanalysisanddesignofhydropowerstructuresinerodiblerockformations.
1.Introduction
Therapiddevelopmentofhydropowerprojectshaspromptedtheneedtounderstandthebehavioroferodiblerockundervariousloadingconditions.Erodiblerock,alsoknownasweatheredrockorsoftrock,ispronetodeformationandfailurewhensubjectedtowaterpressureandgeostresses.Thestabilityanalysisanddesignofstructuresbuiltonerodiblerockformationsareofparamountimportancetoensurethesafetyandlongevityofhydropowerprojects.
2.ExperimentalSetup
2.1SampleCollection:Rocksampleswereobtainedfromthehydropowerstation,whichissituatedonaknownerodiblerockformation.Carewastakentopreservethenaturalstateoftherockduringcollectionandtransportationtothelaboratory.
2.2SpecimenPreparation:Thecollectedrocksamplesweretrimmedandprocessedintocylindricalspecimenswithstandarddimensionsfortriaxialtesting.
