Abstract
PovertyalleviationthroughrelocationhasbecomeanimportantstrategyinChinatoimprovethelivingconditionsofimpoverishedhouseholds.ThispaperaimstoanalyzeandcomparethelivelihoodrestorationcapacityofhouseholdsbeforeandaftertherelocationintheZheXiangzhenresettlementsiteinZhenfengCounty,GuizhouProvince.Throughin-depthinterviewsanddataanalysis,thepaperexploresthechangesinincome,employment,education,andhealthconditionsoftherelocatedhouseholds.Theresultsshowthattherelocationhassignificantlyimprovedthelivelihoodofthehouseholds,withincreasedincome,improvededucationopportunities,andbetteraccesstohealthcareservices.However,challengessuchaslimitedemploymentopportunitiesandinadequateinfrastructurestillexist.Basedonthefindings,thepapersuggeststhatthegovernmentshouldpaymoreattentiontoimprovingemploymentconditionsandinfrastructureinordertoenhancethehouseholds'livelihoodrestorationcapacity.
1Introduction
PovertyalleviationthroughrelocationhasbeenamajorstrategyimplementedbytheChinesegovernmentinrecentyears.Itaimstorelocateimpoverishedhouseholdsfromremoteandunderdevelopedareastomoredevelopedregions,wheretheycanaccessbettereducation,healthcare,andemploymentopportunities.Thisstrategyhasshownpromisingresultsinimprovingthelivingconditionsandincomelevelsofrelocatedhouseholds.
ThispaperfocusesontheZheXiangzhenresettlementsiteinZhenfengCounty,GuizhouProvinceasanexampletoanalyzeandcomparethelivelihoodrestorationcapacityofhouseholdsbeforeandaftertherelocation.Byunderstandingthechangesinincome,employment,education,andhealthconditionsoftherelocatedhouseholds,wecanassesstheeffectivenessoftherelocationstrategyandidentifyareasthatneedfurtherimprovement.
2Methodology
Thisstudyadoptsamixed-methodsapproach,combiningqualitativeinterviewsandquantitativedataanalysis.Semi-structuredinterviewswereconductedwithasampleofrelocatedhouseholdsintheZheXiangzhenresettlementsite.Theinterviewsaimedtogatherin-depthinformationonthechangesinlivelihoodconditionsbeforeandafterthereloc
