Introduction: ArtemisiaargyiisatraditionalChinesemedicinalherbthatcontainsvariousbioactivecompoundssuchasvolatileoils,flavonoids,andterpenoids,whichcontributetoitspharmacologicalactivities.ThevolatileoilsofAiYe,inparticular,areknowntopossessessentialtherapeuticproperties.However,thecompositionandcontentofvolatileoilscanvarysignificantlydependingonfactorssuchasgeographicalorigin,climate,soilconditions,andcultivationmethods.Therefore,itisessentialtoanalyzethedifferencesinvolatileoilsfromdifferentoriginstoensurethequalityandconsistencyofAiYe. Methodology: Inthisstudy,volatileoilswereextractedfromAiYesamplescollectedfromdifferentorigins.Theextractionmethodusedwassteamdistillation,whichisacommonlyemployedtechniqueforisolatingvolatilecompoundsfromplantmaterials.TheextractedoilswerethenanalyzedusingGC-MS,whichisapowerfulanalyticaltechniquethatallowsidentificationandquantificationofindividualcomponentspresentinacomplexmixture.TheresultingGC-MSdatawerepreprocessedtoobtainfingerprintsrepresentingthevolatileoilcompositionofeachsample. ResultsandDiscussion: TheGC-MSfingerprintingdataofvolatileoilsfromdifferentoriginsweresubjectedtochemometricanalysis,includingprincipalcomponentanalysis(PCA)andhierarchicalclusteranalysis(HCA).PCAisadimensionalityreductiontechniquethatcanrevealthemainsourcesofvariationamongsamples,whileHCAprovidesavisualrepresentationofthesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweensamples.Theresultsofthechemometricanalysisrevealed
