Abstract:
Escherichiacoli,aGram-negativebacterium,isacommonpathogenassociatedwithvariousdiseasesinbothhumansandanimals.ThisstudyaimstoisolateandidentifyEscherichiacolistrainsfromdairycowsinHebeiProvince,China,assesstheirpathogenicity,andinvestigatetheinvitroantibacterialeffectsoftraditionalChineseherbalmedicine.ThefindingswillcontributetoimprovingthecontrolandpreventionmeasuresagainstE.coliinfectionsindairycows.
Introduction:
Escherichiacoliinfectionsposeasignificantthreattobothhumanandanimalhealth.Indairycows,E.colicancauseseverediseases,suchasmastitis,metritis,andrespiratoryinfections.Understandingtheprevalence,characteristics,andvirulencepotentialofE.colistrainsinaspecificregionisessentialforeffectivediseasemanagement.Additionally,traditionalChineseherbalmedicinehasbeenincreasinglyexploredforitspotentialantimicrobialproperties.Thus,thisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheisolationandidentificationofE.colistrains,assesstheirpathogenicity,andevaluatetheeffectivenessoftraditionalChineseherbalmedicineininhibitingbacterialgrowth.
Methods:
1.Samplecollection:Atotalof[number]dairycowswereselectedfromdifferentfarmsinHebeiProvince.Sampleswerecollectedfrommilk,feces,andvariousanatomicalsitestocaptureabroadrangeofE.colistrains.
2.Bacterialisolationandidentification:IsolationofE.colistrainswasperformedusingselectivemediaandconfirmedusingbiochemicaltests.Moleculartechniquessuchaspolymerasechainreaction(PCR)andDNAsequencingwereemployedforfurtheridentificationandcharacterization.
3.Pathogenicityassessment:ThepathogenicpotentialofisolatedE.colistrainswasdeterminedbyconductingvariousvirulencefactoranalysisandanimalexperiments.
4.TraditionalChineseherbalmedicine:DifferentherbalextractswerepreparedandtestedfortheirantibacterialpropertiesagainstisolatedE.colistrainsusingstandardsusceptibility
