Abstract:
Liquid-liquidextraction(LLE)coupledwithgaschromatography(GC)iswidelyusedfortheanalysisoforganiccompoundsinvariousenvironmentalsamples,includingwater.Inthisstudy,weaimedtooptimizetheLLE-GCmethodforthedeterminationoftennitrobenzenecompoundsinwatersamples.Theoptimizationprocessinvolvedtheselectionofextractionsolvent,extractiontime,samplevolume,andGCconditions.
Introduction:
Nitrobenzenecompoundsareagroupofaromaticorganiccompoundscontainingoneormorenitrogroups(-NO2)attachedtoabenzenering.Thesecompoundsarecommonlyusedinvariousindustrialprocesses,suchasmanufacturingofdyes,pharmaceuticals,andpesticides.However,theirpresenceinwaterbodiescanposeserioushealthandenvironmentalrisks.Therefore,accurateandsensitivemethodsforthedeterminationofnitrobenzenecompoundsinwatersamplesarenecessaryforenvironmentalmonitoringandassessment.
Methodology:
1.Selectionofextractionsolvent:Severalorganicsolventswithdifferentpolarities,suchasdichloromethane,ethylacetate,andhexane,wereevaluatedfortheirefficiencyinextractingnitrobenzenecompoundsfromwater.Thesolventwiththehighestextractionefficiencyandminimalinterferencewaschosenforfurtheroptimization.
2.Extractiontime:Theextractiontimewasoptimizedbyextractingwatersamplesspikedwithnitrobenzenecompoundsfordifferentdurations(e.g.,10,20,30,and60minutes).TheextractionefficiencywasdeterminedbymeasuringtheconcentrationofthetargetcompoundsusingGC.
3.Samplevolume:Theeffectsofsamplevolumeontheextractionefficiencywereinvestigatedbyextractingnitrobenzenecompoundsfromwatersampleswithdifferentvolumes(e.g.,50,100,200,and500mL).Theoptimalsamplevolumethatprovidedthehighestextractionefficiencywasdetermined.
4.GCConditions:TheGCconditions,includingthechoiceofGCcolumn,columntemperature,injectionvolume,andcarriergasflowrate,wereoptimizedfortheseparationoftennitrobenzenecompounds.DifferentGCcolumnswithvaryingpolariti
