Abstract
Withtheincreasinginternationalizationofeducation,theimportanceofEnglishlanguageproficiencyhasbecomeincreasinglyprominent.Inordertomeettheneedsoftheprofessionaldevelopmentofstudentsinscienceandengineeringmajors,collegesanduniversitieshaveattachedgreatimportancetotheteachingofEnglishforspecificpurposes.ThispaperfocusesontheresearchonthereformofEnglishteachingformaterialsmajorsinscienceandengineeringcollegesanduniversities,analyzesthestatusquoandproblemsofEnglishteachingformaterialsmajors,andexploreseffectiveteachingmethodsandmeasurestoimprovethequalityofEnglishteaching.
Introduction
Asanimportantskillininternationalcommunication,Englishhasbecomeanindispensablelanguageforpeopleinallwalksoflife.Withthedeepeningofglobalization,theuseofEnglishlanguagehasbecomemoreandmorewidespreadinvariousfields,especiallyinthefieldofscienceandtechnology.Atpresent,thedevelopmentofscienceandtechnologyisrapidlyadvancing,andtheexchangesbetweencountriesinscienceandtechnologyarebecomingmoreandmorefrequent.Inthiscontext,theEnglishlanguagehasbecomeanimportanttoolforinternationalexchangesandcooperationinscienceandtechnology.Therefore,theimportanceofEnglishteachingformaterialsmajorsinscienceandengineeringcollegesanduniversitiescannotbeneglected.

Englishteachingformaterialsmajorsinscienceandengineeringcollegesanduniversitieshasalwaysbeenafocusofattention.However,atpresent,therearestillmanyproblemsintheteachingofEnglishforspecificpurposesinmaterialsmajors.Forexample,manystudentsbelievethatEnglishlearningisirrelevanttotheirfuturemajorsandcareers,andtheylackmotivationandinterestinEnglishlearning.Additionally,Englishteachersoftenlackprofessionalknowledgeandteachingexperienceinmaterialsmajors,whichmakesitdifficultforthemtodesignteachingmaterialsandlessonplansthatarecloselyrelatedtostudents'professionaldevelopment.
