Paenibacillusisagroupofbeneficialbacteriawithsignificantpotentialforpromotingplantgrowthandcontrollingplantdiseases.ThisreviewaimstosummarizethecurrentresearchprogressonthemechanismsbywhichPaenibacillusspeciesenhanceplantgrowthandsuppressplantdiseases.Severalkeyfactorscontributingtotheplantgrowth-promotinganddiseasecontrolabilitiesofPaenibacillus,includingproductionofplantgrowth-promotingsubstances,inductionofsystemicresistance,activationoftheplantimmunesystem,andinhibitionofphytopathogens,arediscussed.Theunderstandingofthesemechanismswillprovidevaluableinsightsintothedevelopmentofsustainableandenvironmentallyfriendlystrategiesforimprovingcropproductivityanddiseasemanagement.
