Abstract
TheOEI(oneengineinoperative)trainingmodeiscrucialforhelicopterpilotstosafelyoperateatransportationhelicopter.ThisstudyaimedtoinvestigatetheuseoftheOEItrainingmodeinthetake-offandlandingprocessofatransportationhelicopter.TheexperimentalresultsdemonstratedthattheOEItrainingmodesignificantlyimprovedpilots’flightsafetyandproficiency.ThesefindingssuggestthattheOEItrainingmodeisaneffectivetoolforthetrainingofhelicopterpilots.
Introduction
Helicoptertransportationiswidelyusedinmanyfields,suchasmilitary,civilaviation,andmedicalrescue.However,helicopteraccidentsoccurfrequentlyduetothecomplexflightenvironmentandoperationalcharacteristicsofhelicopters.Therefore,itisimportanttoimprovetheflightsafetyandproficiencyofhelicopterpilots.
TheOEItrainingmodeisacommontrainingmodeforhelicopterpilots,whichsimulatesthefailureofoneengineduringthehelicoptertake-offandlandingprocess.DuringOEItraining,thepilotisrequiredtorespondquicklyandeffectivelytothelossofenginepower,maintainingcontrolofthehelicopterandcompletingthetake-offorlanding.
Inthisstudy,weinvestigatedtheuseoftheOEItrainingmodeinthetake-offandlandingprocessofatransportationhelicopter,withtheaimofevaluatingitseffectivenessinimprovingthesafetyandproficiencyofhelicopterpilots.
Method
Participants
Thestudyparticipantsweretenexperiencedhelicopterpilots(meanage:35.7±5.1yearsold)withanaverageflighttimeof1500hours.Thepilotshadcompletedtheirinitialflighttrainingandhadexperienceoperatingtransportationhelicopters.
ExperimentalDesign
Theexperimentwasconductedinaflightsimulator,whichwasdesignedtoreplicatetheflightenvironmentoftransportationhelicopters.Thetake-offandlandingscenariosweredesignedtosimulateareal-worldflightsituation.TheOEItrainingmodewasusedduringthetake-offandlandingprocess.
Duringtheexperiment,thepilotswererequiredtocompleteseveraltake-offsandlandingsundernormalflightconditionsandOEIsimulationconditions.Theflightdata,suchasaltitude,speed,andflightpath,wererecordedandanalyzed.
