HB6096DigitalBusProtocol TheHB6096digitalbusprotocolisasynchronousserialprotocolusedforcommunicationbetweendevicesinindustrialcontrolandautomationsystems.Itisatwo-wire,half-duplexbusconsistingofaclocksignalandadatasignal.Thedatasignalistransmittedinacontinuoussequenceofpackets,eachpacketcontainingeightbitsofdata.Theprotocolusesamaster-slavearchitecture,wherethemasterdeviceinitiatesthecommunicationandtheslavedevicesrespond. TheoriginalHB6096protocolhasalimitedloadcapacityduetothenumberofdevicesthatcanbeconnectedtothebusandthedistancebetweenthesedevices.Themaximumnumberofdevicesthatcanbeconnectedtothebusislimitedtotwenty-five,andthetotaldistancebetweenthesedevicesislimitedtoonekilometer. ProposedModificationstoIncreaseLoadCapacity ToincreasetheloadcapacityoftheHB6096digitalbus,severalmodificationshavebeenproposed.Thesemodificationsaimtoeitherincreasethenumberofdevicesthatcanbeconnectedtothebusorincreasethedistancebetweenthesedevices.Someofthesemodificationsareasfollows: 1.MultipleBusTopology OneproposedmodificationistousemultipleHB6096busesinsteadofonebus.Eachbuswouldhaveitsownmasterdeviceandalimitednumberofslavedevices.Themasterdeviceswouldcommunicatewitheachother,andtheslavedeviceswouldcommunicatewiththeirrespectivemasterdevices.Thismodificationwouldincreaseboththenumberofdevicesthatcanbeconnectedtothesystemandthedistancebetweenthesedevices.However,itwouldrequireadditionalwiringandcomplexityinthesystem. 2.
