Withtheadventof5Gnetworks,thedemandforreliableandefficientcommunicationhasreachednewheights.Device-to-Device(D2D)communicationemergesasakeytechnologytoenabledirectcommunicationbetweennearbydevices,therebyimprovingnetworkperformanceanduserexperience.However,theinherentlylimitedresourcesinD2Dcommunicationsnecessitateefficientresourceallocationschemes.Thispaperaimstoprovideanoverviewoftheexistingresourceallocationschemesin5GD2Dcommunicationsandtheirpotentialbenefitsandchallenges.
1.Introduction:
5Gnetworksaredesignedtoenableultra-high-speedcommunication,massiveconnectivity,andlowlatency.Device-to-Device(D2D)communicationisafundamentaltechnologyin5Gnetworksthatallowsnearbydevicestocommunicatedirectlywithouttheneedforcentralnetworkinfrastructures.
2.BenefitsandChallengesofD2DCommunication:
D2Dcommunicationoffersseveraladvantages,suchasenhancedspectralefficiency,reducedlatency,improvedenergyefficiency,andincreasednetworkcapacity.However,resourceallocationinD2Dcommunicationposesuniquechallengesduetolimitedresources,interferencemanagement,efficientuserpairing,andfairnessinresourceallocation.
3.ResourceAllocationSchemesin5GD2DCommunication:
a.Proximity-BasedResourceAllocation:Inthisscheme,theresourcesareallocatedbasedonproximitybetweentheD2Dusers.CloseproximityD2Dpairsareselectedtoshareresources,reducinginterferencewithotherusers.Theschemeconsiderschannelconditions,interference,anduserproximitymetrics.
b.ChannelQuality-BasedResourceAllocation:ThisschemeallocatesresourcesbasedonthechannelqualitybetweenD2Dpairs.Resourcesareassignedtohigh-qualityD2Dpairstomaximizenetworkthroughput.TheschemeensuresfairnessbyconsideringthechannelconditionsofallD2Dpairs.
