Abstract:
Inthispaper,wewillanalyzethemeteorologicalsatellitedatafortwostrongthunderstormepisodesthatoccurredduringthesummerof2007.Theaimistogainabetterunderstandingoftheatmosphericconditionsanddynamicsthatledtotheseevents.Theanalysiswillfocusonsatelliteimagery,includingvisible,infrared,andwatervaporchannels,aswellasderivedproductssuchascloud-toptemperatureandcloud-topheight.Additionally,wewillconsiderothermeteorologicaldatasets,includingsurfaceobservations,tocomplementthesatellitedataanalysis.Theresultsofthisstudywillprovideinsightsintothefactorscontributingtothedevelopmentandintensityofthunderstormsduringthesummerseason.
1.Introduction
Thesummerseasonisknownforitsconvectivethunderstormactivity,frequentlyaccompaniedbyheavyrainfall,strongwinds,andevenlightning.Thestudyaimstoanalyzethemeteorologicalsatellitedatafortwonoticeablethunderstormepisodesduringthesummerof2007.Thisresearchissignificantasitwillhelpimproveourunderstandingoftheatmosphericconditionsthatprecedeandcontributetotheseintensethunderstorms.
2.Methodology
Theanalysiswillprimarilyrelyonmeteorologicalsatellitedataforthetwoepisodes.Thisincludesvisible,infrared,andwatervaporchannels,whichprovidevaluableinsightsintoclouddevelopment,moisturedistribution,andthermaldynamics.ThesatellitesusedforthisanalysisincludedNOAA'sGeostationaryOperationalEnvironmentalSatellite(GOES)andtheNationalPolar-orbitingOperationalEnvironmentalSatelliteSystem(NPOESS).
