Abstract:
WirelessSensorNetworks(WSNs)havegainedsignificantattentionduetotheirwiderangeofapplicationsinvariousfields.However,duetotheinherentcharacteristicsofWSNs,suchaslimitedenergy,bandwidth,andprocessingcapabilities,ensuringreliabledatatransmissionposesamajorchallenge.ThispaperpresentsaHierarchical-basedReliableTransmissionAlgorithm(HRTA)thatimprovesthereliabilityofdatatransmissioninWSNsusingahierarchicalstructure.Theproposedalgorithmaimstoenhancethenetworkperformancebyoptimizingenergyconsumption,reducinglatency,andensuringsuccessfultransmissioneveninthepresenceofnodefailuresorpacketlosses.
1.Introduction:
WirelessSensorNetworks(WSNs)consistofspatiallydistributedtinysensornodesthatcollaborativelymonitorphysicalorenvironmentalconditionsandcommunicatethecollecteddatatoabasestation.However,WSNsfacechallengessuchaslimitedresources,unreliablewirelesscommunicationchannels,anddynamicnetworktopologies.ThesechallengesnecessitatethedevelopmentofalgorithmsthatcanguaranteereliabledatatransmissioninWSNs.ThispaperproposesanalgorithmthatexploitsthehierarchicalstructureofWSNstoenhancereliability.
2.Hierarchical-basedReliableTransmissionAlgorithm(HRTA):
TheHRTAdividesthenetworkintomultiplelevelsorlayers,witheachlevelconsistingofasetofnodesresponsiblefordatafusionandtransmission.Thealgorithmconsistsofthreemajorphases:networkformation,clustering,anddatatransmission.
2.1NetworkFormation:
Initially,thenetworkisformedbydeployingsensornodesrandomlyordeterministically.Thenodesself-organizethemselvesintoahierarchicalstructurebasedontheirlocationsandcommunicationcharacteristics.Theformationofthehierarchyhelpsinreducingenergyconsumption,minimizingcongestion,andimprovingnetworkscalability.
2.2Clustering:
Afterthenetworkformation,thealgorithmcreatesclustersateachlevelofthehierarchy.Theclusterheadselectionisbasedonfactorssuchasenergylevel,distancetothebasestation,andconnectivity.Theclusterheadsacta
