Title:InterpolationAlgorithmsforPilotChannelEstimationinOFDMSystems
Abstract:
OrthogonalFrequencyDivisionMultiplexing(OFDM)isapopularmodulationtechniqueusedinmodernwirelesscommunicationsystemsduetoitshighspectralefficiencyandrobustnessagainstmultipathfading.InOFDMsystems,accuratechannelestimationiscrucialfordetectingandmitigatingtheadverseeffectsofchanneldistortions.ThispaperfocusesonthestudyofinterpolationalgorithmsforpilotchannelestimationinOFDMsystems,aimingtoimprovetheaccuracyandefficiencyoftheestimationprocess.Severalinterpolationalgorithms,includinglinearinterpolation,splineinterpolation,andpolynomialinterpolation,areanalyzedandcomparedintermsofperformancemetricssuchasmeansquarederrorandcomputationalcomplexity.Simulationresultsshowthatthechoiceofinterpolationalgorithmsignificantlyimpactstheaccuracyofchannelestimationandconsequentlytheoverallsystemperformance.Moreover,thepaperinvestigatestheimpactofvariousparameters,suchaspilotspacingandpilotpower,ontheperformanceoftheinterpolationalgorithms.ThefindingsofthisstudyprovidevaluableinsightsfortheoptimizationandselectionofinterpolationalgorithmsforpilotchannelestimationinOFDMsystems.
1.Introduction:
OFDMisamulti-carriermodulationschemethatdividestheavailablefrequencyspectrumintomultipleorthogonalsubcarriers,whicharemodulatedusingbinaryphaseshiftkeying(BPSK),quadraturephaseshiftkeying(QPSK),orhigherordermodulationschemes.ThemainadvantageofOFDMisitsabilitytocopewithfrequency-selectivefadingchannelsbyusingaguardinterval(cyclicprefix)toeliminateinter-symbolinterference(ISI).However,totakefulladvantageofthebenefitsofOFDM,accuratechannelestimationisnecessary.ChannelestimationinvolvesestimatingthechannelfrequencyresponseforeachsubcarrierintheOFDMsystem,typicallyusingknownpilotsymbolsinsertedinthetransmittedsignal.
2.InterpolationAlgorithms:
