Abstract:
Theanalysisofisomericalkanesinvariouspetroleumproductsisofgreatsignificanceinunderstandingtheircomposition,evaluatingtheirquality,andassessingtheirpotentialapplications.Thispaperaimstoreviewandevaluatetheexistinganalyticalmethodsforthedeterminationofisomericalkanesindifferentpetroleumproducts,highlightingtheiradvantages,limitations,andpotentialresearchdirections.Themethodsencompassbothtraditionaltechniques,suchasgaschromatography,andadvancedmethodslikemassspectrometryandnuclearmagneticresonance.
Introduction:
Petroleumproducts,includinggasoline,diesel,andjetfuel,arecommonlyusedasenergysourcesworldwide.Theirperformanceandpropertiesdependonthecompositionandstructureofvariousorganiccompounds.Isomericalkanes,characterizedbythesamemolecularformulabutdifferentstructuralarrangements,playacriticalroleindeterminingthephysicochemicalpropertiesofpetroleumproducts.Therefore,developingaccurateandefficientanalyticalmethodsforisomericalkanedeterminationiscrucialforevaluatingandutilizingpetroleumproductseffectively.
Methods:
1.GasChromatography(GC):GCisthemostfrequentlyusedmethodforisomericalkaneanalysis.Itseparatesthecomponentsbasedontheirboilingpointsorvolatility,makingitsuitableforanalyzingawiderangeofhydrocarbons.However,theresolutionofisomericalkanesinGCisoftenlimitedduetotheirsimilarboilingpoints,resultinginoverlappingpeaks.
2.High-PerformanceLiquidChromatography(HPLC):HPLCoffershighsensitivityandallowsseparationbasedonthedifferentpolaritiesofcompounds.Thistechniquehasshownpromiseintheseparationofisomericalkanes,especiallyformorecomplexpetroleumproductsthatcontainawidevarietyofcompounds.However,thepossibilityoftailingpeaksandlonganalysistimecanbedrawbacks.
3.MassSpectrometry(MS):MScoupledwithgasorliquidchromatographyallowsfortheidentificationandquantificationofisomericalkanes.Theuseofmassspectrometryprovidesaccuratemolecularweightdeterminationandstructuralinformation,wh
