Abstract
Inrecentyears,therehasbeengrowingconcernabouttheenvironmentalimpactsofindustrialprocesses.Thecold-rollingprocess,commonlyusedinsteelmanufacturing,cangeneratealargeamountofhydrochloricacid(HCl)wastethatneedstobesafelyandcost-effectivelydisposedof.Thispaperexplorestheoptimizationandpracticalapplicationofasystemforregeneratinghydrochloricacidfromcold-rollingwaste.Areviewoftherelevantliteratureispresented,followedbyacasestudyofasteelmillinChinathatsuccessfullyimplementedahydrochloricacidregenerationsystem.Thestudyhighlightskeybenefitsofthesystem,includingreducedwastegenerationanddisposalcosts,increasedprocessefficiency,andreducedenvironmentalimpacts.
Introduction
Inthemanufacturingofsteel,thecold-rollingprocessiscommonlyusedtoshapeandrefinethesteelproducts.Thisprocessuseshydrochloricacidasalubricantandcoolant,andcangenerateasignificantamountofhydrochloricacidwaste.Disposingofthiswastecanbebothexpensiveandenvironmentallydamaging,ashydrochloricacidisahighlycorrosiveandtoxicsubstance.Toaddresstheseissues,variousmethodsofregeneratinghydrochloricacidfromcold-rollingwastehavebeendevelopedandimplemented.
Thispaperpresentsareviewoftherelevantliteratureonhydrochloricacidregenerationsystems,followedbyacasestudyofasteelmillinChinathatsuccessfullyimplementedahydrochloricacidregenerationsystem.Thestudyfocusesonthekeybenefitsofthesystem,aswellasthepracticalconsiderationsandchallengesinvolvedinitsimplementation.
