Abstract:
Theoptimizationoflubricationsystemincoldrollingwithafocusonreducingrollerconsumptionisofgreatimportancetothesteelindustry.Thispaperaimstoinvestigatethecurrentstateoftheartinlubricationsystemsanditsoptimizationtowardsrollerconsumptionincoldrollingmills.Theresearchwasconductedthroughaliteraturereviewandanalysisofmethodsandtechniquesusedinthesteelindustry.Thefindingsindicatethatthereisaneedforimprovedlubricationsystemsthatcaneffectivelyreducerollerconsumption,andthemosteffectivetechniquesinvolvetheuseofcombinationlubricationandvariousmonitoringandcontroltechnology.
Introduction:
Coldrollingisawidelyusedprocessthatproducesavastarrayofmetalplates,sheets,andstripsthatareusedinvariousapplications,suchasthemanufactureofcars,aircraft,andelectricalappliances.Theprocessisenergy-intensive,andtheproductionefficacyisheavilydependentondifferentparameters,suchasthetemperature,speed,andlubricationoftherollers.Oneoftheprimarychallengesinthecoldrollingprocessisthehighrollerconsumption,whichnotonlyresultsincostsbutalsoimpactsthequalityofthefinalproduct.Therefore,itiscrucialtooptimizethelubricationsystemtoreducerollerconsumptionincoldrollingmills.
CurrentStateoftheArt:
Variousstudieshavebeenconductedonthelubricationsystemsincoldrollingmills.Thesestudiesindicatethatthemostefficientlubricationsystemsinvolvetheuseofacombinationofoilandwater,whichcreateahydrodynamiclayerbetweentherollersandthemetalstrip.Inthissystem,theoilisusedasawettingagentandthewaterasacoolant.Thissystemreducesthefrictionbetweentherollersandthemetalstrip,thusminimizingtherollerconsumption.
Anothersysteminvolvestheuseofzincstearate,whichisasolidlubricantthatformsabarrieronthesurfaceofthemetalstrip,minimizingthecontactbetweenthestripandtherollers,therebymaintainingthelifespanoftherollers.Thissystemiseffectivewhenthemetalstripisfreeofanyotherlubricants,suchasoilorgrease.
