Abstract:
Tannicacidisanaturalpolyphenolcompoundthatexhibitsexcellentpropertiessuchasantioxidant,antibacterial,andmetalionchelation.Inthisstudy,weaimedtoprepareencapsulatedtannicacidironnanoparticlesandinvestigatetheiradsorptioncatalyticdenitrificationperformance.Theencapsulationoftannicacidonironnanoparticlescanenhancetheirstabilityandcatalyticactivity,makingthemeffectiveinremovingnitratecontaminantsfromwater.
Introduction:
Nitratepollutioninwatersourcesisasignificantenvironmentalconcernduetoitsadverseeffectsonhumanhealthandecosystembalance.Variousmethodshavebeendevelopedfornitrateremoval,includingbiologicaldenitrification,ionexchange,andadsorption.Amongthesemethods,adsorptionhasgainedconsiderableattentionduetoitssimplicity,cost-effectiveness,andhighefficiency.
MaterialsandMethods:
Thetannicacidironnanoparticles(TA-FeNPs)weresynthesizedbyasimplechemicalprecipitationmethod.Theencapsulationoftannicacidonironnanoparticleswasachievedbymixingthetannicacidsolutionandtheironnanoparticlesuspensionunderstirring.TheobtainedencapsulatedTA-FeNPswerecharacterizedusingtechniquessuchasscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),energy-dispersiveX-rayspectroscopy(EDX),Fourier-transforminfraredspectroscopy(FTIR),andX-raydiffraction(XRD).
ResultsandDiscussion:
TheSEManalysisconfirmedthesuccessfulformationofencapsulatedTA-FeNPs,whichexhibitedasphericalmorphologywithanaveragesizeof50-100nm.TheEDXanalysisshowedthepresenceofbothironandcarbon,confirmingthesuccessfulencapsulationoftannicacidonironnanoparticles.TheFTIRandXRDanalysisfurtherconfirmedtheformationofencapsulatedTA-FeNPs.
TheadsorptioncatalyticdenitrificationperformanceofencapsulatedTA-FeNPswasevaluatedbyconductingbatchadsorptionexperiments.Theeffectsofvariousfactorssuchasinitialnitrateconcentration,pH,contacttime,andadsorbentdosagewereinvestigated.TheresultsshowedthattheencapsulatedTA-FeNPsexhibitedexcellentnitratere
