Abstract:
Therapidgrowthofthepharmaceuticalindustryhasresultedinanincreaseinhigh-concentrationpharmaceuticalintermediatewastewater.Thisposessignificantchallengesintermsofeffectivetreatmentandpollutioncontrol.Inthisstudy,weproposetheuseofanAlkaline-Aeration/AOcombinationprocessforthetreatmentofhigh-concentrationpharmaceuticalintermediatewastewater.Theobjectiveistoevaluatetheperformanceofthisprocessintermsofremovalefficiency,cost-effectiveness,andenvironmentalsustainability.Theexperimentalresultsdemonstratethattheproposedprocesseffectivelyremovesorganicpollutantsandimprovesthewaterqualityofthewastewater.
1.Introduction:
Thepharmaceuticalindustryplaysacrucialroleinthedevelopmentandproductionofessentialdrugsforhumanandanimalhealth.However,themanufacturingprocessesinvolvedgeneratesignificantamountsofhigh-concentrationpharmaceuticalintermediatewastewater(HCPIW),whichcontainsawiderangeoftoxicandnon-biodegradablecompounds.ThedirectdischargeofHCPIWwithoutpropertreatmentcanhavesevereecologicalandenvironmentalimpacts.Therefore,itisessentialtodevelopanefficienttreatmentprocessforHCPIWtoprotectpublichealthandtheenvironment.
2.ExistingTreatmentMethods:
VariousmethodshavebeenemployedtotreatHCPIW,includingphysical,chemical,andbiologicalprocesses.However,thesemethodsoftenfacechallengesinhandlinghighlevelsoforganicpollutantsandnon-biodegradablecompoundspresentinHCPIW.Therefore,thereisaneedforaninnovativeandeffectivetreatmentprocessthatcanaddressthesechallenges.
3.Alkaline-Aeration/AOCombinationProcess:
TheAlkaline-Aeration/AOcombinationprocessproposedinthisstudycombinesalkalinepretreatmentwithaerationandAO(Anaerobic/Oxic)process.Alkalinepretreatmentinvolvestheadditionofanalkalineagenttothewastewater,adjustingthepHtoasuitablerangeforsubsequentbiologicaltreatment.Aerationenhancesthedissolutionofoxygenintothewastewater,promotingtheoxidationoforganicpoll
