Introduction Three-levelinvertershavebecomeincreasinglypopularinrecentyearsduetotheirabilitytoprovideahigherqualityoutputwaveformcomparedtotraditionaltwo-levelinverters.Thisisespeciallythecaseinapplicationsrequiringhighprecisionandlowdistortion,suchasmotorcontrolandphotovoltaicsystems. However,theoperationofthree-levelinvertersisnotwithoutitschallenges.Onesuchchallengeisthepresenceofdeadzoneintheinputsignals.Thisisaresultofthenon-idealcharacteristicsofthepowerswitchesusedintheinverter,whichcanresultinacertainrangeofinputsignalsbeingignored. Deadzonecanhaveasignificantimpactontheoutputcharacteristicsoftheinverter,resultinginincreaseddistortionandreducedefficiency.Asaresult,anumberofmethodshavebeenproposedintheliteraturetocompensateforthiseffect,includingpulse-widthmodulation(PWM)techniques,hysteresis-basedmethodsandlook-uptable(LUT)approaches. Inthispaper,weproposeaFourier-baseddeadzonecompensationstrategyforthree-levelinverters.ThisstrategyisbasedonanalyzingthehigherfrequencycomponentsoftheoutputvoltagewaveformsusingtheFouriertransform.Byremovingthesehigherfrequencycomponents,theimpactofdeadzoneontheoutputwaveformcanbeeffectivelymitigated.
