Traditionally,thedesignofpipingsystemshasbeenatime-consuminganderror-proneprocessthatinvolvesmultiplehandoffsbetweendifferentengineeringdisciplines.Designconflictsandcommunicationerrorsarecommon,leadingtocostlydesignerrorsanddelaysinprojecttimelines.Inrecentyears,however,advancementsincomputer-aideddesign(CAD)andthree-dimensional(3D)modelingtechnologyhaveenabledamoreseamlessandintegrateddesignprocess.
