Abstract:
Uniformlineararrays(ULAs)arewidelyusedinvariousapplicationssuchasradar,sonar,andwirelesscommunicationsystems.However,duetovariousreasons,suchashardwarefailuresormalfunctions,someelementsinthearraymaybecomenon-functional,resultinginmissingelementsorelementfailures.ThispaperaimstoanalyzetheeffectsofmissingelementsonthebeamformingdirectionpatternofaULA.
Introduction:
Uniformlineararraysconsistofequallyspacedantennaelementsthatareusedtoformdirectionalbeamsbyadjustingthephaseandamplitudeofthesignalsreceivedortransmittedbyeachelement.Thesearraysofferseveraladvantagessuchashighdirectivity,beamsteering,andinterferencerejection.However,inpracticalscenarios,thepresenceofmissingelementsduetofaultsorfailurescansignificantlyimpacttheperformanceofthearray.Therefore,understandingtheeffectsofmissingelementsonthebeamformingdirectionpatternbecomescrucial.
