Intoday'seraofglobalization,Englishhasbecomeanessentialtoolforcommunication,education,andcareerdevelopment.Therefore,EnglishmajorsareexpectedtohaveexcellentEnglishproficiencyinallaspects,includinglistening,speaking,reading,writing,andtyping.Astheworldbecomesmoreconnected,listeningandtypinghavebecometwocrucialskillsforEnglishmajors,especiallyforthosewhoaspiretobecomeinterpreters,translators,orreporters.Amongthem,simultaneousinterpretation,whichinvolveslisteningandtypingsimultaneously,isoneofthemostadvancedskillsforEnglishmajors.
ThispaperaimstoexplorethelearningstrategiesofEnglishmajorsinthesimultaneousinterpretationofEnglish,aswellastipsforEnglishtypingpractice.ByanalyzingthetypicalproblemsandsolutionsthatEnglishmajorsfaceinsimultaneousinterpretationandtyping,thispaperprovidespracticalsuggestionsforEnglishmajorstoimprovetheirperformance.
ChallengesandProblemsinSimultaneousInterpretation
Whenitcomestosimultaneousinterpretation,theinterpreterisrequiredtolistentothespeaker'sspeechinreal-timeandtotranslateitintothetargetlanguagewhilethespeakerisstillspeaking.Thiskindofinterpretationrequiresnotonlyexcellentlanguageproficiencybutalsoquickreflexesandgoodmemory.Therefore,Englishmajorswhoaspiretobecomeinterpretersneedtoovercomethefollowingchallenges:
