Abstract:
Thisresearchpaperaimstoinvestigatethecorrelationbetweensecondlanguagemotivation,foreignlanguageanxiety,andEnglishproficiencyamongEnglishmajorstudents.ThestudyconsistsofasampleofEnglishmajorstudentsfromakeyuniversityinChina.Theresearchemploysamixed-methodsapproach,combiningqualitativeandquantitativeresearchmethods.TheresultsshowasignificantcorrelationbetweensecondlanguagemotivationandEnglishproficiency,suggestingthatstudentswhoaremoremotivatedtendtohavehigherEnglishproficiencylevels.Furthermore,theresearchrevealsanegativecorrelationbetweenforeignlanguageanxietyandEnglishproficiency,suggestingthatstudentswithhighlevelsofanxietytendtoperformpoorlyinEnglish.ThesefindingshaveimportantimplicationsforEnglishlanguageteachingandlearninginhighereducationinstitutions.
