Abstract:
TheaimofthisstudyistoinvestigatestudentengagementinanEnglishmajor'scomprehensiveEnglishclassroom.Thistopicholdssignificanceasitprovidesinsightsintostudents'levelofparticipation,interest,andmotivationintheEnglishlanguagelearningprocess.Thestudyexaminesthetypesofquestionsraisedbystudentsandexploreshowtheirquestionsinfluencetheoveralllearningexperience.Datawascollectedthroughclassroomobservations,interviews,andquestionnaires.Thefindingsrevealtheimpactofstudent-generatedquestionsontheirengagementlevels,learningoutcomes,andteacher-studentinteractions.Theresearchcontributestoabetterunderstandingofeffectiveteachingpracticesandstudent-centeredlearninginEnglishlanguageclassrooms.
Introduction:
Studentengagementplaysacrucialroleinthelearningprocess,asitdirectlyaffectsstudents'motivation,participation,andoverallacademicachievements.InEnglishlanguageclassrooms,creatinganenvironmentthatencouragesactivestudentinvolvementisessentialforeffectivelanguagelearning.Thisstudyaimstoexploretheimpactofstudent-generatedquestionsontheirengagementlevelsinanEnglishmajor'scomprehensiveEnglishclassroom.Byanalyzingthetypesandfrequencyofquestionsraisedbystudentsandtheirpotentialinfluenceonthelearningexperience,thisstudyprovidesvaluableinsightsforbotheducatorsandstudents.
Methodology:
1.ClassroomObservations:
ClassroomobservationswereconductedtoidentifythedifferenttypesofquestionsraisedbystudentsduringEnglishclasses.Theresearcherpaidspecialattentiontothenatureofthequestions,thefrequencyofquestionsasked,andthelevelofstudentinvolvementinclassroomdiscussions.
2.Interviews:
Semi-structuredinterviewswithboththeteacherandselectedstudentswereconductedtogainadeeperunderstandingoftheroleofstudent-generatedquestionsintheclassroom.Theinterviewsaimedtoexploretheteacher'sperspectiveonstudentengagementandthestudents'perceptionoftheirownparticipationandlearningoutcomes.
