Abstract:
ThispaperaimstocriticallyexaminethecurrentteachingmodelsforProfessionalEnglishandPublicEnglishinuniversitiesandproposearethinkingoftheapproachestowardsthesedisciplines.Theimportanceofadaptingtotheincreasinglyinterconnectedgloballandscapeisemphasized,highlightingtheneedformorepractical-orientedinstructionandastrongerintegrationofreal-worldknowledge.Drawingfromvariousstudiesandscholarlyliterature,thispaperexplorespotentialstrategiestoensureeffectivelanguagelearningandskillsdevelopmentinProfessionalEnglishandPublicEnglish,contributingtoamorecomprehensiveandrelevantcurriculumforuniversitystudents.
Introduction:
ProfessionalEnglishandPublicEnglisharetwoessentialsub-disciplineswithinEnglishlanguageeducationinuniversities.ProfessionalEnglishprimarilyfocusesonpreparingstudentsfortheirfuturecareers,providinglanguageproficiencyandspecializedknowledgerelevanttospecificprofessionalcontexts.PublicEnglish,ontheotherhand,aimstoequipstudentswitheffectivecommunicativeskillsforbroadersocialandculturalcontexts.Whilebothdisciplineshavetheiruniqueobjectives,itiscrucialtoreevaluatethecurrentteachingmodelstoensuretheyremainrelevantandeffectiveinarapidlychangingworld.
