TheEnglishMajorLevel8ReadingComprehensionexamplaysacrucialroleinassessingtheproficiencyofEnglishmajors.Contentvalidityisanessentialaspectofexamdevelopment,ensuringthatthetestaccuratelymeasurestheintendedknowledgeandskills.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatethecontentvalidityofEnglishMajorLevel8ReadingComprehensionexamsfrom2009to2013.
Methodology:
Toconductthisresearch,aseriesofstepsweretaken.First,athoroughreviewofEnglishMajorLevel8ReadingComprehensionexamsfrom2009to2013wascarriedout.Thisreviewinvolvedanalyzingtheexamformat,content,anddifficultylevel.Second,theexamwascomparedtotheexpectedknowledgeandskillsoutlinedintheEnglishcurriculumforlevel8students.Thisstepaimedtoidentifyanydiscrepanciesbetweentheexamandtheintendedcurriculum.Finally,expertopinionsweresoughttoevaluatethecontentvalidityoftheexams.
Results:
TheanalysisoftheEnglishMajorLevel8ReadingComprehensionexamsfrom2009to2013revealedseveralfindings.Firstly,theexamformatremainedconsistentthroughouttheyears,consistingofmultiple-choicequestionsandshort-answerquestions.Thisallowedforcontinuityinassessingstudents'readingcomprehensionskills.Secondly,thecontentoftheexamswasalignedwiththeskillsandknowledgeoutlinedintheEnglishcurriculumforlevel8students.Theexamscoveredawiderangeoftopics,includingliterature,history,andcurrentaffairs,demonstratingacomprehensiveassessmentofstudents'languageabilities.Additionally,thedifficultyleveloftheexamsappearedtobeappropriate,challengingstudentsatthelevelexpectedforlevel8Englishmajors.
