Metacognitivestrategiesplayacrucialroleinlanguagelearningandhavegainedsignificantattentioninrecentyears.AsthedemandforEnglishproficiencyincreases,itisessentialtounderstandhowEnglishmajorstudentsdevelopandutilizemetacognitivestrategiestoenhancetheirlanguagelearningprocess.ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatethedevelopmentofmetacognitivestrategiesamongEnglishmajorstudentsandtheirimpactonlanguagelearningoutcomes.
1.DefinitionandImportanceofMetacognition:
Metacognitionreferstotheawarenessandregulationofone'sowncognitiveprocessesduringlearning.Itinvolvestheabilitytomonitorandevaluateone'slearningprogress,setgoals,planstrategies,andmakeadjustmentsaccordingly.Metacognitivestrategiesenablelearnerstotakecontroloftheirlearningprocessandadapttheirapproachestomeettheirindividualneeds.
