andacontinuedneedforyourparents’loveandsupport.Youfeelreadytobemoreresponsibleand
makedecisionsonyourown.Unfortunately,yourparentsdonotalwaysagreeandthatmakesyou
feelunhappy.“Whycan’ttheyjustletmego?”youmaywonder.Ontheotherhand,whenyouare
strugglingtocontrolyourfeelings,youwishtheycouldbemorecaringandpatient—sometimesthey
forgetthatgrowingupisaroughride.Itcanbedifficultwhenyourparentstreatyoulikeachildbut
expectyoutoactlikeanadult.Allofthiscanleadtoabreakdowninyourrelationship.
Althoughsometimesitmayseemimpossibletogetalongasafamily,youcantakeactiontoimprove
thesituation.Thekeytokeepingthepeaceisregularandhonestcommunication.Whenyoudisagree
withyourparents,takeaminutetocalmdownandtrytounderstandthesituationfromtheirpointof
view.Perhapstheyhaveexperiencedsomethingsimilaranddonotwantyoutogothroughthesame
pain.
