Englishisnowagloballanguage,andproficiencyinEnglishhasbecomeincreasinglyimportantforinternationalcommunication,business,andacademicpursuits.AsEnglishmajors,studentsareexpectedtopossessstronglanguageskillsandasolidfoundationinEnglishlanguageandliterature.However,acquiringsuchskillsrequiresnotonlyformalclassroomlearningbutalsothecultivationofself-directedlearningbeliefs.Thisresearchaimstoinvestigateandanalyzetheself-directedlearningbeliefsofEnglishmajorstudents.
1.DefinitionofSelf-directedLearning:
Self-directedlearningreferstotheprocessinwhichlearnerstakeresponsibilityfortheirownlearning,setgoals,andactivelydesignandpursuestrategiestoachievethosegoals.Itinvolvestheabilitytomanageone'stime,resources,andlearningtaskseffectively.Self-directedlearnersaremotivated,curious,andhaveasenseofownershipintheireducationaljourney.
2.ImportanceofSelf-directedLearningforEnglishMajors:
Englishmajorsneedtocontinuouslydeveloptheirlanguageproficiencyandunderstandingofliteraturebeyondtheclassroomenvironment.Self-directedlearningenablesstudentstoexploreareasofinterest,deepentheirknowledge,anddevelopcriticalthinkingskills.Italsocultivateslifelonglearninghabitscrucialforprofessionalgrowthandadaptationtotherapidlychangingglobalsociety.
3.MethodsofInvestigation:
