Introduction:
Theintegrationoftechnologyineducationhasrevolutionizedtraditionalteachingmethodsacrossvariousdisciplines.Blendedlearning,acombinationofonlineandface-to-faceinstruction,hasgainedpopularityinlanguageeducationduetoitspotentialtoenhancelearners'engagementandflexibility.ThisstudyaimstoexploretheeffectivenessofablendedlearningapproachinbasicFrenchlanguageinstruction.
BlendedLearninginLanguageEducation:
Blendedlearning,alsoknownashybridlearning,combinesthebestofbothonlineandtraditionalclassroomenvironments.Itallowslearnerstoaccesslearningmaterialsandengageininteractivelearningactivitiesthroughonlineplatformswhilestillbenefitingfromface-to-faceinteractionswithinstructorsandpeers.Inlanguageeducation,blendedlearningoffersseveralpotentialadvantages,suchasindividualizedinstruction,increasedlearnerautonomy,andaccessibilitytoauthenticresources.
Methodology:
Thisstudyemployedamixed-methodsapproach,combiningbothqualitativeandquantitativeresearchmethods.Theparticipantswere50undergraduatestudentsenrolledinabasicFrenchlanguagecourseatauniversity.Thestudywasconductedoveraperiodof12weeks,duringwhichtheparticipantsreceivedinstructionusingablendedlearningmodel.Datawerecollectedthroughpre-andpost-coursesurveys,interviews,andclassroomobservations.
Results:
Quantitativeanalysisofthepre-andpost-coursesurveysrevealedastatisticallysignificantimprovementinlearners'languageproficiencyandoverallsatisfactionwiththeblendedlearningapproach.Thestudentsreportedenhancedengagementandmotivation,aswellasincreasedaccesstoauthenticresourcesthroughonlineplatforms.Qualitativeanalysisoftheinterviewsandclassroomobservationsprovidedinsightsintolearners'experiencesandperceptionsoftheblendedlearningenvironment.Participantsexpressedsatisfactionwiththeflexibilityandconvenienceofonlinelearningmaterialswhilevaluingtheface-to-faceinteractionswithinstructorsforclarificationandfeedback.
