Inrecentyears,moreandmorenon-Englishmajorstudentsarepursuingtheirmaster'sdegreeinEnglish-relatedfields.However,asnon-nativespeakersofEnglish,theymaynothaveasolidfoundationinEnglishlanguageskills,whichoftenposesagreatchallengetotheirEnglishlearning.Englishteachingmodesfornon-Englishmajorgraduatestudentsdeservefurtherexploration,withafocusonimprovingtheirlearningoutcomes.
TheCurrentSituationofEnglishEducationforNon-EnglishMajorGraduateStudents:
Currently,theteachingofEnglishfornon-EnglishmajorgraduatestudentsinChinaismostlyfocusedonclassroomteachingandlacksdiversemodesofteachingandtraining.Traditionalteachingmethodspredominantlyrelyonlectures,textbooks,andevaluations,withoutincorporatingmultimediaandinternetresources.Theteachingmodeplacesagreatemphasisoninput,ratherthanoutputskilldevelopment,whichisinconsistentwithcurrentprinciplesoflinguisticsandSLA(SecondLanguageAcquisition)theory.
TheAdvantagesofDifferentEnglishTeachingModes:
CooperativeLearning:
Inacooperativelearningmode,studentsaredividedintogroupstoperformcertaintasks.Thisteachingmodeemphasizescooperationandcommunicationskillsbetweenstudents,whichencouragesmutualteachingandlearning,andapersonalizationoflanguageacquisition.
Project-BasedLearning:
Project-basedLearningisaninteractive,systematic,andcreativelearningmode.Itisdesignedtosimulatethepracticalenvironmentunderwhichstudentsareexposedtolanguageuseandapplicationinreal-worldsituations.Inthismode,studentscompleteprojectsthatmayinvolvewritingpapers,makingpresentations,organizingdebatesorotherrelatedmultimediacontent.
TheFlippedClassroom:
Theflippedclassroomteachingmodelchangesthetraditionalteachingpattern,wherestudentslearnthenewconceptsintheclassanddohomeworktoconsolidateknowledgeoutsidetheclass.Incontrast,theflippedclassroomisapedagogicalmodewherestudents'homeworkisviewingpreparedvideostounderstandthecoursematerialbeforeclass,followedbydiscussionsandexercisesinclass.Theflippedclassroomalsoincreasestheinteractionbetweenteachers
