Introduction
Withtherapiddevelopmentofglobalization,Englishhasbecomeoneofthemostimportantlanguagesintheworld.InChina,Englishlanguageeducationhasbecomeincreasinglyimportantinrecentyears,andstudentsneedtohaveasolidfoundationinEnglishvocabularyinordertobesuccessful.ThisresearchpaperaimstoinvestigatethevocabularylevelsandlearningmethodsofChinesefive-yearvocationalcollegestudents.
Methodology
Theresearchwasconductedthroughonlinequestionnaires.Thequestionnairewasdividedintotwoparts.Thefirstpartofthequestionnairewasusedtoinvestigatethevocabularylevelofthefive-yearvocationalcollegestudents.Thesecondpartwasusedtoexploretheirvocabularylearningmethods.ThedatacollectedfromthequestionnairewereanalyzedusingstatisticalsoftwaresuchasSPSS.
Results
Thedatacollectedfromtheresearchshowedthatthevocabularylevelofthefive-yearvocationalcollegestudentswasrelativelylow.Theaveragevocabularylevelofthestudentsinthisgroupwasaround2500words.ThislevelislowerthanthatofcollegestudentswhohavestudiedEnglishforfouryears.Theresultsofthevocabularystudyshowthatthestudentswereweakinvocabularyareassuchasidioms,phrases,andcollocation.Thestudentsalsohaddifficultyinusingvocabularyincontext,whichsuggeststhattheymayhavememorizedwordswithoutunderstandinghowtheyareusedinreal-lifesituations.
Intermsoflearningmethods,theresearchfoundthatmostofthefive-yearvocationalcollegestudentsprefertomemorizevocabularythroughrepetitionandrotelearning.Theyalsousedflashcards,reading,andlisteningtoEnglishmusicforvocabularylearning.Itwasalsofoundthatpracticeandapplicationarethemosteffectivevocabularylearningmethods,yetmoststudentsdidnotputthisintopractice.
Discussion
Theresultsofthestudyshowthatthefive-yearvocationalcollegestudentshavealowlevelofEnglishvocabulary,andtheirvocabularylearningmethodsneedtobeimproved.Thisisaseriousissuebecausevocabularyisthefoundationoflanguagelearning.Withoutasolidfoundationinvocabulary,studentsmaystruggletounderstandmorecomplexEnglishlanguagematerials.Therefore,acomprehensiveEng
