Linearamplificationwithnonlinearcomponents(LINC)isapopulartechniqueforradiofrequency(RF)poweramplificationduetoitshighefficiency.InaLINCtransmitter,theinputsignalissplitintotwopaths.Onepathisphaseshiftedby90degreesandthenamplifiedbyaclass-Aamplifier.Theotherpathisamplifiedbyaclass-Camplifierandthenphaseshiftedby90degrees.Thetwosignalsarethencombinedthroughanonlinearcombiningnetworktoproducethefinaloutput.TheLINCsystemishighlyefficientbecausetheclass-Camplifieroperatesinitssaturatedregion,whichallowsforhighgainandlowpowerconsumption.However,thenonlinearityintroducedbythecombiningnetworkcancausedistortionintheoutputsignal.
