Abstract:
ThisresearchpaperinvestigatestheuseofEnglishreadingstrategiesamonggrade10studentsinPuyangNo.1SeniorHighSchool.Asurveywasconductedtodeterminestudents'readinghabits,preferences,andperceptionstowardsreadingstrategies.Theresultsrevealedthatstudentsexhibitedcertainstrengthsintheirreadinghabits,suchasregularlypracticingreading,buttherewasstillroomforimprovementintheiruseofspecificreadingstrategies.Recommendationsforenhancingstudents'Englishreadingskillsarepresentedbasedontheresearchfindings.
1.Introduction:
Englishreadingplaysapivotalroleinthelearninganddevelopmentofhighschoolstudents.Itenhancestheirlanguageproficiency,criticalthinking,andcomprehensionabilities.However,manystudentsencounterdifficultiesinunderstandingandextractingmeaningfromEnglishtexts.Thisresearchaimstoinvestigatetheeffectivenessofreadingstrategiesamonggrade10studentsinPuyangNo.1SeniorHighSchoolandproviderecommendationsforimprovement.
2.Methodology:
Aquestionnaire-basedsurveywasconductedamongasampleofgrade10studentsatPuyangNo.1SeniorHighSchool.Thesurveyincludedquestionsrelatedtostudents'readinghabits,preferences,andperceptionstowardsreadingstrategies.Thesamplesizewasrepresentativeoftheentiregradetoensureaccuracyinthefindings.
3.Results:
Theresultsofthesurveyindicatedthatmostgrade10studentsatPuyangNo.1SeniorHighSchoolhaddecentreadinghabits,suchasreadingEnglishtextsatleastonceaweek.However,thereweresomeareasthatneededimprovement.Forinstance,studentsshowedalackofawarenessanduseofspecificreadingstrategies,suchasskimming,scanning,andmakingpredictions.Thissuggeststhatstudentsneedguidanceandtraininginadoptingeffectivereadingstrategies.
4.Discussion:
Thefindingsofthesurveyraiseseveralkeypointsfordiscussion.Firstly,students'limitedexposuretodiversereadingmaterialsmayhindertheircomprehensionskills.Therefore,teachersshouldprovideavarietyofreadingmaterialstoensurestud
