Abstract:
Consolidationyieldstressandtheoverconsolidationratio(OCR)areessentialparametersforevaluatingthemechanicalbehaviorandstabilityofsoildeposits.ThispaperpresentsamethodfordeterminingtheconsolidationyieldstressandOCRofoxidizedlakedepositsbasedontheConePenetrationTesting(CPTU)technique.TheproposedmethodutilizesCPTUdatatoestimatetheundrainedshearstrengthandOCRvaluesofthesoil,providingvaluableinsightsintothesoil'sconsolidationbehaviorandpotentialstabilityissues.
Introduction:
Oxidizedlakedepositsarecommonlyfoundinvariousregionsandoftenposechallengesinconstructionprojectsduetotheircomplexengineeringbehavior.UnderstandingtheconsolidationyieldstressandOCRofthesedepositsiscrucialfordesigningandmaintainingstructuresonsuchsoil.TheCPTUtesthasgainedsignificantpopularityingeotechnicalinvestigationsduetoitscost-effectiveness,efficiency,andabilitytoprovidedetaileddataonsoilproperties.ByutilizingCPTUdata,thisstudyaimstodevelopapracticalandreliablemethodfordeterminingtheconsolidationyieldstressandOCRofoxidizedlakedeposits.
Methodology:
1.CollectionofCPTUTestData:
-ConductanextensivesiteinvestigationtodeterminethelocationsforCPTUtests.
-PerformCPTUtestsatdesireddepths,recordingdataincludingconeresistance(qc),porewaterpressure(u),andsleevefriction(fs).
2.EvaluationofUndrainedShearStrength:
-ApplytheRobertsonetal.(1986)methodtoestimatetheundrainedshearstrength(su)fromtheconeresistance(qc).
-Determinetheundrainedshearstrengthatdifferentdepthstoestablishasu-depthprofile.
3.EstimationofOCR:
-Analyzetheexcessporewaterpressure(u)andundrainedshearstrength(su)profilesobtainedfromtheCPTUdata.
-Identifythemaximumandminimumsuvaluesfromthesu-depthprofileandnotetheircorrespondingdepths.
-CalculatetheOCRusingtherelationship:OCR=su_max/su_min.
