Abstract:
TheflowerproductsindustryisoneoftherapidlygrowingsectorsacrosstheTaiwanStrait.Inrecentyears,flowertradebetweenTaiwanandMainlandChinahasgainedmomentumandcontributedsignificantlytotheeconomicgrowthofbothregions.ThispaperhighlightsthecurrentstateoftheflowertradeindustrybetweenTaiwanandMainlandChina,itschallenges,andfutureopportunities.
Introduction:
Theflowerindustryisoneofthekeysectorsthatcontributetotheglobaleconomyandisemergingasaprominentareaofgrowthinthecross-straittradebetweenTaiwanandMainlandChina.TheTaiwanflowerindustryhasalonghistorydatingbacktothe16thcentury,whereastheMainlandChinaflowerindustrystarteddevelopingafterthe1990s.Thecross-straitflowertradeindustryhasrapidlygrowninrecentyearsandhasemergedasanimportanteconomicforceintheregion.ThispaperanalyzesthepresentstateofthedomestictradeintheflowerindustryacrosstheTaiwanStrait.
PresentStateofDomesticTradeinFlowerIndustry:
Inrecentyears,thedomestictradeinflowerproductsacrosstheTaiwanStraithassignificantlyincreasedinvolumeandvalue.TheannualoutputoftheflowerindustryinTaiwanwasaround2.99billionUSdollarsin2019.Inthesameperiod,theoutputoftheflowerindustryinMainlandChinawas30billionUSdollars.ThestrongmarketdemandoftheflowerindustryhasdriventhetradeacrosstheTaiwanStrait.
Furthermore,theflowerindustryhasbecomeasignificantsourceofincomeformanypeopleacrosstheregion.Theindustryprovidesemploymentopportunitiestofarmers,traders,andotherstakeholdersinbothregions.Thetradehasalsoinjectedasignificantamountofrevenueintoeachregion'seconomyandhascontributedtoboostingconsumerspending,therebydrivingeconomicgrowth.
Challenges:
DespitethegrowthoftheflowerindustryacrosstheTaiwanStrait,severalchallengeshavehampereditsprogress.Thefirstchallengeisthequalityoftheflowerproducts.Thecross-straittradeisvulnerabletothequalityoftheflowerproducts,whichcoulddeteriorateifregulationsandstandardsarenotenforced.Thesecondchallengeisthehighcostoftransporta
