Abstract:
Inrecentyears,topologyoptimizationhasbeenwidelyusedinthedesignofstructures,butmostofthemfocusontheoptimizationofcontinuousvariables.However,fordiscretevariablesliketrussstructures,traditionaltopologyoptimizationmethodscanhardlyworkwellduetothediscretenatureoftheproblem.Inthispaper,weproposeanewtopologyoptimizationmethodfortrussstructuresbasedondiscretevariables.Theproposedmethodusesageneticalgorithmtooptimizethetopologyofthetrussstructure,andtheperformanceofthetrussstructureisevaluatedbyusingfiniteelementanalysis.Casestudiesshowthattheproposedmethodcaneffectivelyoptimizethetopologyofthetrussstructureandimproveitsperformance.
Introduction:
Topologyoptimizationhasbecomeanimportanttoolforstructuraldesigninrecentyears.Itaimstooptimizethetopologyofstructuresbyremovingunnecessarymaterialsandreducingtheweightwhilemaintainingthestructuralintegrity.However,mostoftheexistingtopologyoptimizationmethodsfocusoncontinuousvariables,whicharenotapplicabletodiscretevariablesliketrussstructures.
Trussstructuresarewidelyusedinengineeringpracticeduetotheirsimplicityandefficiency.However,thetopologyofthetrussstructureplaysasignificantroleintheperformanceofthestructure.Therefore,theoptimizationoftrussstructures'topologyhasbecomeacrucialresearchtopic.Inthispaper,weproposeanewtopologyoptimizationmethodfortrussstructuresbasedondiscretevariables.
Methodology:
Theproposedtopologyoptimizationmethodfortrussstructuresincludesthefollowingsteps:
1.Designvariableencoding:Inthisstep,weencodeeachelementofthetrussstructureintoabinarydigit.Thebinarydigit'1'representstheexistenceofthetrusselement,while'0'representstheabsence.
2.Geneticalgorithmoptimization:Thegeneticalgorithmisusedtooptimizethetopologyofthetrussstructure.Thealgorithmstartswitharandomlygeneratedpopulationoftrussstructures,andeachindividualinthepopulationisevaluatedbyusingfiniteelementanalysistocalculateitsperformance.Theindividualswithbetterperformancearethenselectedforreproductionandcross-over,generatingthe
