Abstract:
Inurbanareas,theconstructionofsubwaysystemsofteninvolvestheexcavationoftunnelsusingshieldtunnelingmethods.Oneofthechallengesthatariseduringthisprocessisthecontrolofgroundsettlement,particularlyinareaswherethereareexistingshallowfoundationbuildings.Thispaperfocusesoninvestigatingthetechniquesandmeasuresthatcanbeemployedtoeffectivelycontrolthegroundsettlementduringsubwayshieldtunneling.
Introduction:
Theconstructionofsubwaysystemsiscrucialforurbandevelopmentandtransportationefficiency.Shieldtunnelingisawidelyusedmethodfortunnelexcavationduetoitsreducedenvironmentalimpactandminimizeddisruptiontosurfaceactivities.However,theexcavationprocessexertspressureonthesurroundingsoil,whichcanresultingroundsettlementandpotentialdamagetoexistingshallowfoundationbuildings.Therefore,itisessentialtostudyandimplementstrategiestocontrolgroundsettlementduringsubwaytunneling.
FactorsAffectingGroundSettlement:
Variousfactorscontributetogroundsettlementduringsubwaytunneling.Theseincludethegeologicalconditions,subsoilproperties,tunnellingmethods,andtheexistingstructuresinthearea.Theinteractionbetweenthetunnelingprocessandthesurroundingsoilplaysasignificantroleindeterminingthemagnitudeanddistributionofthegroundsettlement.
