Abstract:
Licorice-basedcosmeticshavegainedsignificantpopularityduetotheirnumerousskinbenefits.Oneofthekeyactiveingredientsintheseproductsisglycyrrhizinate,acompoundwithpotentanti-inflammatoryandantioxidantproperties.Thisresearchaimstodevelopareliableandefficientmethodforthequantificationofglycyrrhizinateinlicorice-basedcosmeticsusingultra-high-performanceliquidchromatography-tandemmassspectrometry(UHPLC-MS/MS).
Introduction:
Licorice-basedcosmeticshavebeenusedforcenturiesintraditionalmedicinefortheirskin-enhancingproperties.Theyarerichinglycyrrhizinate,atriterpenoidcompoundderivedfromtheGlycyrrhizaglabraplant.Glycyrrhizinatehasbeenfoundtopossessanti-inflammatory,antioxidant,andwhiteningeffects,makingitavaluableingredientinskincareproducts.Accuratequantificationofglycyrrhizinateinthesecosmeticsisessentialtoensureproductqualityandefficacy.
ExperimentalMethods:
1.SamplePreparation:
-Licorice-basedcosmeticswereselectedforanalysis,includingcreams,lotions,andserums.
-Aknownamountofsamplewasweighedanddissolvedinanappropriatesolvent(suchasmethanoloracetonitrile).
-Thesampleswerethensonicatedandcentrifugedtoobtainaclearsupernatantforanalysis.
2.UHPLC-MS/MSAnalysis:
-AnUHPLCsystemequippedwithaC18columnwasusedforchromatographicseparation.
-Themobilephaseconsistedofamixtureofwaterandacetonitrile,withagradientelutionmethod.
-Thecolumntemperaturewasmaintainedataconstanttemperature,andtheflowratewasoptimized.
-MS/MSdetectionwasperformedusinganelectrosprayionizationsourceinthepositiveionmode.
ResultsandDiscussion:
1.MethodValidation:
-Theanalyticalmethodwasvalidatedaccordingtointernationalguidelines,includinglinearity,sensitivity,precision,accuracy,andstability.
-Calibrationcurveswereconstructedusingstandardglycyrrhizinatesolutionsatvariousconcentrations.
-Thelinearityofthemethodwasevaluatedbydeterminingthecorrelationcoefficient(R2)andthestandarddeviationofresiduals.
