Abstract:
Thispaperpresentsthedevelopmentprocessofaclassicgame–Snake,implementedintheCprogramminglanguagefortheLINUXoperatingsystemusingtheNcursesgraphicallibrary.ThemotivationbehindthisprojectwastocreateaninteractivegamethatshowcasesthecapabilitiesoftheNcurseslibrary,whichenablesthecreationoftext-baseduserinterfacesonaterminal.Thispaperdiscussesthestep-by-stepdevelopmentprocess,includingtheinitialsetup,gamelogic,graphicalrendering,anduserinteractionaspects.Additionally,itcoversthechallengesfacedduringdevelopmentandthepotentialenhancementsthatcanbemadetofurtherimprovethegame.
1.Introduction
TheSnakegameisaclassicarcadegamewheretheplayercontrolsagrowingsnakeobjectthatmovesacrossthescreen,eatingfoodandgrowinglonger.Thegameendsifthesnakecollideswiththebordersoftheplayingareaorwithitsownbody.TheprimaryobjectiveofthisprojectwastodevelopaSnakegamethatcanbeplayedontheLINUXoperatingsystemusingClanguageprogrammingandtheNcurseslibrary.
2.NcursesLibrary
Ncursesisasoftwarelibrarythatprovidesfunctionsforcreatingtext-based,terminal-independentgraphicaluserinterfacesintheCprogramminglanguage.Itallowsdeveloperstocreateinteractiveprogramsthatcanberunonthecommandlineorinaterminalwindow.Ncursesprovidesvariousfunctionsfordrawingcharacters,handlingkeyboardinput,andmanagingwindows.
3.ProjectSetup
