Abstract:
Turbulentheatdiffusionplaysasignificantroleinunderstandingandpredictingatmosphericprocesses.Thisstudyinvestigatesandanalyzesthepositiveandnegativeturbulentheatdiffusioncoefficientsobservedfromthe325-metermeteorologicaltowerinBeijing.Thetowerprovidesuniqueinsightsintotheverticalprofilesofatmosphericvariablesandtheirturbulentcharacteristics.Theresultsofthisstudycancontributetoabetterunderstandingoflocalclimaticconditionsandaidinthedevelopmentofaccurateatmosphericmodelsforimprovedforecasting.
Introduction:
TurbulentheatdiffusionisakeyfactorintheexchangeofheatandenergybetweentheEarth'ssurfaceandtheatmosphere.Understandingthecharacteristicsofturbulentheatdiffusioniscrucialforstudyingvariousatmosphericphenomenasuchasurbanheatislands,airpollutiondispersion,andweatherpatterns.The325-metermeteorologicaltowerinBeijingoffersanexcellentplatformforobservingandanalyzingtheturbulentcharacteristicsoftheatmosphere.
Methods:
Datausedinthisstudywerecollectedfromthe325-metermeteorologicaltowerlocatedinBeijing.Thetowerisequippedwithadvancedinstrumentscapableofmeasuringvariousatmosphericvariablesatdifferentverticallevels.Theobservationswereobtainedatregularintervalsoveraspecificperiod.ThepositiveandnegativeturbulentheatdiffusioncoefficientswerecalculatedusingtheMonin-Obukhovsimilaritytheory,whichrelatessurfacefluxestoatmosphericstability.
Results:
Theanalysisofthepositiveandnegativeturbulentheatdiffusioncoefficientsrevealedinterestingpatternsandvariationsthroughouttheverticalprofile.Positiveheatdiffusioncoefficientswereobservedduringdaytimewhenthesurfacewaswarmerthantheatmosphereabove.Thisindicatesthatheatfromthesurfacewasbeingmixedupwardsandcontributingtowarmingtheoverlyingatmosphere.Negativeheatdiffusioncoefficientswereobservedduringnighttimewhenthesurfacecoolingwasgreaterthanthatoftheatmosphere,leadingtothetransferofheatfromtheatmospher
