Abstract:
Theuseofshieldtunnelingforcuttingandremovingreinforcedconcretepileshasgainedattentionduetoitspotentialforminimizingdisruptiontosurroundingstructuresandreducingconstructiontime.Thispaperaimstoinvestigatethefeasibilityofusingshieldtunnelingforthedirectcuttingofφ25mmmainreinforcementinconcretepilefoundations.Thestudyexploresthetechnicalandeconomicaspectsofthisapproachanddiscussesthepotentialbenefitsandchallengesassociatedwithit.Thefindingsofthisresearchcanserveasavaluablereferenceforengineersandresearchersinvolvedintheconstructionanddemolitionofconcretepilefoundations.

1.Introduction
Concretepilesarewidelyusedinfoundationconstructionduetotheirhighload-bearingcapacityandstructuralstability.However,theremovalofthesepilesisachallengingtask,oftenrequiringheavymachineryanddisruptivemethods.Thisfeasibilitystudyproposesanalternativemethod–thedirectcuttingofφ25mmmainreinforcementusingshieldtunneling–asapotentialsolutiontoimprovetheefficiencyandcost-effectivenessofpileremoval.
2.Methodology
Thestudyinvolvesacomprehensiveliteraturereviewtoa)identifyexistingtechniquesforcuttingreinforcedconcretepiles,b)investigatetheprinciplesandapplicationsofshieldtunneling,andc)assessthefeasibilityofusingshieldtunnelingforthedirectcuttingofφ25mmreinforcementinconcretepiles.
