Abstract:
Polarcodinghasemergedasapromisingcodingschemeforfuturecommunicationsystemsduetoitsremarkablecodingefficiencyandlowdecodingcomplexity.Inpolarcodedecoding,theSuccessiveCancellationListwithFlipping(SCLF)algorithmhasbeenwidelyemployedtoachieveimprovederrorperformance.ThispaperproposesanewPolarCodeSCLFdecodingalgorithmbasedonanovelmetriccriterion,aimingtoenhancethedecodingperformanceofpolarcodesfurther.Theproposedalgorithmisevaluatedthroughsimulations,andtheresultsdemonstrateitseffectivenessinachievinghigherdecodingaccuracycomparedtoexistingdecodingalgorithms.
1.Introduction
Withthegrowingdemandforhigh-speedandreliablecommunications,errorcorrectioncodinghasbecomecrucial.Polarcoding,introducedbyArikanin2009,hasgainedsignificantattentionforitscapacity-achievingpropertyandlowdecodingcomplexity.TheSuccessiveCancellationList(SCL)algorithmiscommonlyusedfordecodingpolarcodesduetoitslowcomplexityandsatisfactorydecodingperformance.However,theconventionalSCLalgorithmsuffersfromperformancedegradationwhendecodinglongblocklengths.
2.SCLFDecodingAlgorithm
Onepopularapproachtoimprovingtheerrorperformanceofpolarcodesisflipping,whichchangescertainbits'valuesduringthedecodingprocess.TheproposedSCLFdecodingalgorithmintroducesanovelmetriccriteriontodeterminewhichbitstoflip,aimingtoenhancethedecodingaccuracyfurther.Thealgorithmincludesthefollowingsteps:
-Initialization:Initializethedecodingprocessbygeneratinginitialcandidatesbasedonthereceivedchanneloutput.
-SuccessiveCancellationList:PerformamodifiedSCLdecodingprocesswhilemaintainingalistofsurvivingcodewordcandidates.
-MetricCriterionEvaluation:Evaluatethenovelmetriccriterionforeachcandidateateachdecodingstagetodeterminewhichbitpositionstoflip.
-FlippingProcedure:Fliptheselectedbitpositionsandupdatethecodewordcandidates'list.
-PathPruning:Prunethelistofcandidatesbasedonapredefinedpruningthresholdtoreducecomplexity.
